If you have come across professional interior design projects at least once, you have probably seen an amazing service on the list — 3d architectural rendering. It does not matter if you are a customer or just a person interested in the site, you may have thought about what lies behind this term. Why do designers so zealously offer this service to customers? Do you need it, or is it a way to lure more money? Let us discover the basics and benefits of 3D visualization and 3D interior rendering.

Architectural 3D Visualization

The Basics of 3D Visualization

3D architectural rendering is a 2D illustration that shows a completed architectural structure in realistic photographic 3D detail, often used to show what the structure would look like before the project begins. Such images are usually created using computer software specially designed to create 3D images from 2D illustrations. Architectural rendering in 3D is used by architects and realtors to realistically present the finished product to the client. This can be a valuable sales tool that allows the customer to better visualize the completed project rather than relying on marks or blueprints.

As part of architectural rendering or architectural visualization, a 3D option is a step forward in representing how the finished project will look when it is completed. Previously, architects had to draw the finished product. Computer-generated 3D architectural renderings can be created in much less time than a physical drawing, and it is sometimes difficult to distinguish them from photographs for their realism.

Why Is 3D Interior Rendering Important for Selling Design?

3d interior rendering is an essential tool in selling design because of the following reasons:

  • Some clients find it difficult to visualize a completed project without seeing it first.
  • A very realistic architectural rendering of a project can create an image that can affect a customer on an emotional level and cause excitement about an idea that previously existed in the resume.
  • Sometimes, seeing a photographically detailed image of an idea is enough to convince a client to commit to a structural plan.

Special computer software is used to create 3D architectural renderings. The software uses a rendering equation to add details to a scene file, usually a .cad or .pdf of a floor plan or elevation. Texture, shading, and other lighting effects are added to mimic the way light appears in a human vision for a realistic effect. Light rendering modeling techniques are used to simplify the complex task of representing aspects of imaging. Although there are four technical families, 3D architectural rendering software usually combines at least two to produce the best images at the lowest cost.

3D architecture software is used by architects and artists who specialize in providing 3D rendering services for architects, realtors, and builders. These services may vary in cost depending on the type of software rendering programs used and the level of detail required in the final product. 3D architectural rendering artists can also provide scale models, 3D renderings of interior heights, and unconventional views like at night. If computer .cad or .pdf files are not available, rendering artists can create images using sketches or floor plans.

Capabilities and Benefits of Architectural 3D Rendering

In a nutshell, 3D rendering is essentially a kind of modern computer graphics. The tool allows you to create three-dimensional models. Moreover, it is not just about the interiors of living spaces but about any model in general. However, we are interested in architectural projects. Professional software is used for 3D visualization. The result of rendering is a three-dimensional picture of maximum realism. 3D visualization is an opportunity to touch the future interior and see the designer’s idea in the smallest details. That is why the service is included in the architectural design package.

3D Visualization Capabilities

Utilizing this tool, you can attract more customers because it gives the following opportunities.

  • Drawing of different types of buildings (residentials like the apartments for rent in Wilmington, industrial, and business facilities, parks, infrastructure). That is a graphic representation of the exterior of the building. This is extremely useful if you are going to build your own house or do quality landscaping on the site.
  • Interior of premises (apartments, cafes, restaurants, offices) — what the room will look like from the inside.
  • Furniture, decor, accessories. 3D visualization allows you to decorate the interior to the smallest detail. Literally, every smallest element can be painted and seen ‘alive.’

Advantages of 3D Visualization

Now, let us discuss why we recommend this service to attract more customers:

  • The effect of presence. As we have already said, you will be able to ‘immerse’ yourself in the project. Before your eyes will be not simple drawings and plans but almost real space that can be changed and redesigned to your liking.
  • Additional effects. 3D visualization allows you to build different interior lighting (natural and artificial). Moreover, if it is a question of a personal plot, it is possible to look at the design in various weather conditions.
  • Cost. Most companies have adequate prices for visualization. The benefits of this service far outweigh the costs.
  • Editing. Fixing 3D projects is quite a complex and time-consuming process if you want to get work of high quality. But it is still easier than redrawing sketches, watercolor washes, and other products of ‘hand’ techniques. If you have patience and budget, specialists will be able to change the visualization of the design until the perfect option is found.

According to practice, there are even more advantages. 3D visualization allows the designer and the customer to find a common language very quickly. No special knowledge is required to perceive a three-dimensional picture. With this tool, the client becomes a direct co-author of personal space and understands what the result will be.

Architectural 3D Rendering and Interior 3D Visualization Services – Final Point

Altogether, among the most powerful modern tools, 3D rendering became a real hit. It is widely used in many industries today, but for architecture and interiors, it is almost irreplaceable. Due to its utilization, there are numerous opportunities to work with clients successfully. You can obtain the best results and satisfy all the needs of the customer as well as attract one’s attention at the beginning of cooperation.

When it comes to product visualisation, you can’t cut any corners. With online shops popping up left and right, there are now more options online than ever before. Everyone has access to wares from all around the world. And with no way to actually physically interact with the product before they purchase, most people won’t even start deliberating. This makes things very competitive for images, photos, and 3D Modelling.

With competition this steep, there’s really only one way to stand out. You need to be very good at playing this game. You can always decide to simply hire the best possible product photographers for you. They will take a picture of your goods and trust that they’ll do them justice. However, for many industries, that’s all old news. There are countless tutorials available online to get you started. Here are five advantages 3D modelling has over traditional photography.

#5 Representing Something that Doesn’t Exist

3D modelling advantages

The current market is so advanced that we often sell products that don’t even physically exist yet. This is particularly relevant in the tech industry. With so much money being put into designing, the clients need to be sold on it long before it is ready to be distributed. And, so CG is for creating commercials and product images as the products are still being developed. So that people can get a glimpse of what’s to come and decide that they want it right then and there.

The same goes for the construction industry. After all, a new house can’t be sold after it’s built. But clients don’t want to buy blind, and there’s only so much 2D building plans will tell them. To add to that, 3D modelling can actually be used to present something that doesn’t exist anymore. For example, through representing ancient artifacts. In that respect, 3D modelling is incredibly useful.

#4 It Will Save You Time and Money

You might tend to think that the more modern, more technologically top solution will also be the costlier one. After all, new tech is costlier to make, and the people using it need to have a training to use it.

However, the truth is just the opposite. True, 3D modelling may not be very cheap. But neither is product photography, especially if you want your images to be good in quality. Additionally, with photography, you need to schedule an entire photoshoot, take care of all costs related to lighting, and of reshoots, if anything goes wrong, etc. This all not only takes away time. It also loses you money, as you need to invest much more of it in the process. 3D modelling is by far the more cost-effective option.

#3 The Perfect Conditions

3d modelling

On a related note, photography can be quite fickle. A lot of the end result depends on external factors, such as lighting, weather, etc. A single cloud can completely ruin a photo. And with no way to reliably fix that later on, you pretty much either have to bow your head before the whims of fate, or schedule reshoots. It, as we’ve previously established, will cost you more money.

With 3D modelling, the lighting is exactly what you want it to be. The backdrop perfectly compliments your project, and in general, you decide every little aspect of your product’s presentation. With most modern 3D models looking so photorealistic they’re indistinguishable from the real deal. It’s the ideal way to present a product.

#2 Freedom of Modification

Another big advantage 3D models have over traditional photography is that they’re a bit more interactive. With a photo, once it’s taken, it’s done. Of course, there’s post-production. You can change filters and modify various aspects of the photo. But in general, you have a photograph that’s a direct representation of the photographed object.

At the same time, with 3D models, you can change pretty much everything. This is great for when you have one product with several color variants. For example, as you can easily modify the 3D model with different textures, which the client can later pick from a box. That’s one step forward in making the entire shopping process much more hands-on. One step forward and we’re in the realm of VR – though perhaps online shopping isn’t quite there yet.

#1 More Interactivity

3D modelling pros

The interactivity doesn’t stop there. Since you’re working with a full 3D model instead of a flat image, you can make it so that the client can zoom in on it, rotate it, etc. This is a similar effect to what can be achieved through 360 photography. But 3D models are just as good, cost less, and have even fewer limitations than that.

Additionally, if you offer the option for your clients to design the look of their product, they can see the changes happen in real-time and see every minute change from every angle. And none of this comes at the cost of ease of use.

Before You Make the Jump

We’ve hyped up 3D modelling. However, that’s not to say there is no merit to traditional photography in this day and age. Yes, most major companies, such as IKEA, have allegedly moved on entirely to 3D models. But if you work in the fashion industry, photography is still the absolute champion of capturing the fine details of fabrics.

With 3D models still needing work in that regard. Not to mention if you want to present your works on a model. 3D models won’t do you much good because it is still incredibly difficult to convincingly render a human body. If you want to use landscapes in your advertising, it’s the same.

Still, when it comes to individual objects and interiors, you can’t go wrong with 3D modelling. It’s the forward-thinking solution we need in this day and age to give your clients exactly what they need.

The latest trends in web designing are seeing a complete overhaul and many web designers are revolutionizing their web pages by incorporating a lot of 3D technology. This attracts more attention and helps in creating a powerful visual experience for their visitors. Such effect can be achieved by designing your web pages in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Create Simple and Effective Designs With illustrator

With Adobe Illustrator, it is very easy to create 3D, animated and visually pleasing images. Here are a few simple tips:

Open Adobe illustrator and create an A4 canvas measuring 21×29.7 inches or 8.27×11.69 inches. Create your basic layout with tools appearing in the tool Box such as ellipse tool. You can use the Pen tool to create additional shapes. Holding the Alt key with the Pen tool will result in getting square shaped structures. Click on the point from where you want to determine your vertex.

To add color to the shape, select the shapes created and go to the Gradient panel with the selection tool. You can create radial gradients of your choice by using various combinations on this panel. The panel is in the CMYK pattern. You can also make use of strokes to give added effect. A radial gradient makes your designs look soft and appealing.

To give further effects to your page, go to Effect, select Blur and use any of the options available, such as Gaussian Blur, Radial blur or smart Blur. You need to set a radius so as to get proper shadowing effect. You can get reflections by setting the opacity to the required percentage in a shape just outside your main drawing using the transparent panel.

Using Adobe Photoshop to get the Anaglyph Effect

Follow these useful tricks and you’ll achieve a stunning effect:

Open adobe Photoshop and create a canvas measuring 550×550 px with a 72 dpi. Copy the picture you created in illustrator by using the Copy/ Paste method (Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V). Paste it as a Smart Object to make working easier for yourself. This allows you to scale the picture without getting a pixilated effect.

Create a background of your choice with all the frills using the Gradient tool in Photoshop. Now select your picture pasted from illustrator and create new layers with various effects using the options in Photoshop. You need to create at least two to three layers with different effects on the same picture to get great effects. Save the Layers in various Groups. Now apply the Blending Mode option to the groups one by one according to your desire.

To get a 3D effect, you need to take extra care in applying the effects. Select each Group, one at a time and go to Blending modes option and click Multiply. This will give a darker image effect of the chosen object. Repeat the procedure for all the groups.
Now place the Groups in an overlapping fashion, one slightly out of the center than the other and so on, by using the Selection tool. This will achieve the desired 3D effect.
You can also get some depth effects by using the Free Transform tool. Add text boxes, animated objects and photos wherever you wish and design the page layout. Using Adobe Dreamweaver, you can make your web page active and fully functional.

The final result is an amazing web page, designed with all the special effects you desired and is bound to attract a lot of visitors. Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop can be thus used in synergy to bring out beautifully designed web pages.
